Examples of Holistic Health Treatments

Before starting my article I will like to say a few words about health.

“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.”
“He, who has health, has hope. And he, who has hope, has everything.”
“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”

Some of the most widely known techniques of Holistic health care would be Chiropractic Care, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Holistic Aromatherapy, Homeopathy and Reflexology.  Words many of us have heard, but still, might not completely understand.  Of course, there are many more available, but these are good examples of Holistic health care practices.   Here’s a basic rundown of what these treatments entail.

Chiropractic Care
If the spine misaligns nerves become pinched and are unable to provide blood and nourishment to vital organs. If untreated, major organ failure can result.  Many other medical conditions can also be treated.  It is a non-surgical, non-invasive, drug-free way to realign your spine and much more than back pain can be relieved

Acupuncture
Found to relieve arthritis.  Also successful in curing, migraines, obesity and insomnia.  Known to be a good preventative treatment for additions, such as alcohol, nicotine and drugs.  Most patients need a few sessions to notice any significant change in their condition.  It is painless and where chronic illness is concerned, it can be cheaper and more effective than conventional treatments.

Massage Therapy
This works by stimulating endomorphism production in the body.  This calms the person down, stimulating the immune system and therefore the bodies ability to heal.  Various techniques can be used, and it can be beneficial to just about everyone.

Holistic Aromatherapy
Essential oils, plant oils are used to promote physical and psychological health.  Good to relieve allergies and stress.  Essential oils are not the same as ‘perfume oils’.  The latter uses synthetic ingredients, something never used in Holistic health treatments.  Essential oils have distinct therapeutic qualities, which improve health and well being.  Perfume oils do not.  The essence is used to strengthen body and mind, using the prevention and cure approach to conditions.

Homeopathy
It uses the treatment theory of ‘like cures like’.  Tiny quantities, of the very cause of a symptom, are administered to the patient, in natural form.  This kicks the immune system into response and so immunity is increased.  The Homeopath treating you would also take into account the physical and emotional factors affecting your life, because the treatment is specific to an individuals needs.  This way, they can make sure the treatment is right for you.

Reflexology
It encourages the body’s return to health by stimulating circulation and promoting relaxation.  It can help relieve pain and many other health problems.  It works on the principal that our internal organs are mirrored at specific points found on the hands and feet – known as the reflex points. Special pressure and massage techniques are applied to these various, specific points, relaxing the patient and returning the body to a state of ‘normality’

Herbal Medicine, and Holistic Nutrition are also good examples of Holistic health practices and techniques.  Even Yoga and Tai Chi, often fall into the same category.
