Exercise For Children, the Key to Battling Obesity

Exercise for children is very important, especially for those suffering from obesity. Many researches and medical studies have showed that our children are growing fatter and fatter by the day. 30 % of the kids below the age of 19 are considered overweight and about 15% of these are considered obese.

As a parent, it may be nearly impossible for one to look into the tear filled eyes of your children and refuse them the food they love. But with many families all over America are now struggling to keep the weight of their children within reasonable limits, it is high time that we look at this problem and do something about it. And the best way to overcome obesity is to get your children into the habit of exercising regularly.

So, what can we do about it? Studies have shown that the main reason for obesity in children is not junk food and colas. It’s actually TV, as children tend to lie on the sofa and munch away happily when they are in front of the TV sets. After school, many of them relax on the sofa with packets of chips, cool drinks or chocolates while they watch T.V.

And why do children do that? That is because they got nothing better to do! So if parents pull their children away from the TV, and plan some fun exercise for children, the children will be diverted away from the TV and their natural buoyancy will lead the children to do stuff and to move their body. They will then be diverted from eating more and in turn losing more weight through exercise.

Obesity is a matter of growing concern. It is noticed that more and more kids are becoming couch potatoes. An after school program such as fun exercise for children ensures that the child shakes off his lethargy and keeps himself busy. Exercise can also be fun, and your children will begin to love it if you show them the joy of exercising. This also helps to reduce the child fascination for T.V and computer games.

Recreational exercise activities are a must if you feel that your children are starting to put on undesirable weight. It is better to begin these activities as early as possible as the more weight the child gains, the harder it is for him to shed it. Football, skating, swimming and Karate are just some activities he can participate in. Structured and disciplined exercise for children is only possible when one is put into a right environment. That is why an overweight child simply has to be put into a regular system to push him or her to exercise. By exercising regularly, your children can definitely overcome obesity.
