(Folsom, CA)–With stress linked to increased risks of heart disease, depression, and obesity, remedies that promise stress relief abound. According to the latest research, one of the most effective treatments is massage therapy. Proven to reduce cortisol and raise dopamine levels, therapeutic massage not only helps people relax, but it also improves sleep and even reduces pain. California-based Serenity Spa is seeking to raise awareness of the benefits of healing touch while promoting a variety of massage services for their clients.

“When most people think of massage, they probably think of Swedish massage,” said manager Christine Savage. “It’s the most common type of general-purpose massage, and it includes long strokes, kneading, and tapping. It’s a great method of conveying healing touch, and it definitely helps people relax. But we have many more options to offer so that clients will be able to find a massage therapy that’s perfectly suited to their needs.”

Clients of Serenity Spa can choose among 19 different massage services, most available for both one hour and 90-minute sessions. In addition to Swedish massage, clients can try deep tissue massage, which can help to relieve chronic tension. Another option is Abyhanga, a type of massage from the Ayurvedic tradition that incorporates warm massage oils. Tibetan hot stone massage draws from the Tibetan tradition of acupressure, which promises to increase both mental and physical relaxation. Other options include essential oil and aromatherapy massage, Indian facial and neck massage, craniosacral therapy, and chakra-balancing massage, to name a few. Serenity Spa also offers combination massages specifically designed for stress reduction. Savage explained, “Our basic stress fix massage incorporates both Swedish and deep tissue styles, along with reflexology, acupressure, and aromatherapy. We use a special blend of oils that includes French lavender, lavandin, and clary sage, all of which are known to induce a feeling of tranquility and a release of stress. A more advanced stress fix option includes a heat compress with a steam treatment that helps clear the mind and relax the muscles. We hope to encourage more and more people to try massage to reduce the stress that may be compromising their health and well-being.”

In addition to massage, Serenity Spa offers a variety of programs designed to promote healing and stress relief, including yoga classes, meditation, and Ayurvedic treatments and consultations. “All of our practitioners are fundamentally healers who care deeply about the work they do and they people they serve,” concluded Savage.
