Detox Diet – What is It?
An article wrote that many are fascinated with a detox diet. Many may not be at first until they have tried and succeed with it.
What is a detox diet?
A detox diet primarily acts on removing excess toxins that builds up inside the body. These toxins are acquired through eating and drinking. The diet requires eating and drinking organic products which helps in cleansing the body from harmful substances in the form of bowels.
Benefits:
People who have tried and succeed in having a detox diet claims that they have lost weight, better skin complexion, improved functions of organs and mental health.
Cons:
There are not many bad reviews for this diet. The benefits of this diet can give you is more noticeable. But this diet could not give all the nutrients that your body needs. So, if you plan to extend being in this diet, then expect some lack ness of nutrients being absorbed by your body. Therefore, this diet should only be done on a short term basis.
Your detox diet would include foods like: fruits, vegetables, juices, beans, oats, potatoes, brown rice, steamed fish, unsalted seeds, yogurt, herbs and herbal teas.
Foods that should be avoided during the diet are: red meat, chicken, dairy products, eggs, butter, wheat products, pastries, sweets, processed foods, alcohol, coffee and sodas.
Here are examples of detox meals:
Breakfast:
o Fruit smoothie; may be pear, orange, kiwi, apple or plum. You may add more ice depending on your taste preference. But if your stomach is a little weak, replace citrus fruits with pears or strawberries.
Lunch:
o Prepare the following: extra virgin olive oil, garlic, onion, carrots, celery, water, bay leaves and spinach.
o Sauté garlic, onion, water and bay leaves and have them boiled for one hour. Then add other remaining ingredients and boil again until it wilts.
Dinner:
o Have a salad of mixed green and red peppers, artichokes and sprouts dressed with garlic, lemon juice and olive oil.
o You can also take a multivitamin supplement to improve the detox process.
If you are aiming for an overall balanced health, patience and discipline are needed.
