I guess one good characteristic is to be "friendly". If you are a real friend, you would be willing to offer EVERYTHING you can …. for your beloved friend. That's what friends are for! And then the word "holistic" comes. To become real, genuine friends, "it takes two to tango"! There should be mutual relationship and both should be willing to accept each other fully. So what then, is the relevance of holistic approach and its importance in our life? In our group? In our society? In our country? And in the world we live in?
In my understanding, when you say "HOLISTIC", it denotes the "FULLNESS" of need. Like for instance, when you think about healing or mending the broken heart, holistic approach is very important. It may seem alright to give medication, but in most cases and based on my own experience (so I have proven it myself), what you really need is the whole process of healing, which would involve medication, therapy, "talking it out" , positive activities, strong motivation and "powerful PRAYER". So, basically, what we are talking about is the healing of body, mind, emotion & spirit.
There you are! You now have an idea and deeper understanding of the word "holistic".
Holistic approach is like a total package for someone who desperately needs restoration. Remember that our body system is inter-connected with the other parts. "I just kept on feeding mouth all the time", said hands. "Well, I kept thinking where to find food, just for mouth's sake ", the clever mind also uttered." I smell all those delicious food but its only mouth that enjoys it! ", another feedback, this time, from nose." What about me? I kept looking for food just to feed mouth! ", Uttered enviously by eyes. Then, stomach got into the conversation saying," Me … I actually just accept food from mouth but I do not really benefit from it ". All the time during these conversations, mouth was just silent and did not say anything. While the others, after realizing that they were not happy of the whole situation, decided to have a protest and "REST". Meaning, they will not do anything for mouth's sake! They did it several days and yes, during the early stage of their "(IN) ACTIVITY", they were feeling good. But three days later, they started feeling uncomfortable and weak. "I could not walk .. . "" I'm so tired …. "" I have no energy …. "" I could not think clearly …. "" I'm feeling upset …. "(Readers, just work out who is saying each phrases) Then, from long silence …. the mouth had spoken! "You complained against me and decided to stop feeding me because of your selfish attitude. You did not realize that each of your role is for the benefit of everybody, including me and you! Each of us has its own function. The moment you stopped performing your role, BODY was affected, hence, the reason why you are feeling ill ". Those who were participants of the protest, upon hearing mouth's powerful voice, made a resolution:" From this time on, we will function according to our role, so that each of us will have normal, happy life! "(Everyone started working, mouth was fed regularly and they live happily ever after!) …
Everyday I go to work I hear people talk about how to loose weight and keep on healthy strict diet. Sure that helps, but we all know, that no matter how healthy you eat, if you do not exercise enough, there is still a great chance of gaining a bit of weight here and there, every time you can not resist that next "small" piece of cake to celebrate someone's birthday party.
So everyone knows how important physical exercises are, yet, how many actually get to do it? So in this article, let's talk about some tricks to turn exercises into fun and exciting activity that anyone can do – without stretching the nerve and will to make it happen!
1. If your home is not too far from work, let's say anywhere less then 2 miles (3km), try to walk and leave you car at home. This will not only help you do exercises naturally everyday, it will also save a lot of money on fuel cost and keep our planet Earth green.

When it comes to losing weight, you can do it in many ways, but some of them are unhealthy. This has been a problem for many around the globe. Although “quick weight loss” is certainly possible (and many diet plans focus on this), it’s much more important that a diet plan be effective and healthy at the same time. You need a healthy diet plan if you want healthy weight loss. You won’t necessarily lose weight quickly, but you’ll get results that are lasting, and you won’t have unhealthy side effects.
It’s really, really easy to “diet.” Almost everyone has done so at some point, although people disagree on what really effective weight loss actually means. If you just have a few pounds to lose or if you are really, really overweight, most people want to lose at least some weight. (Even normal weight or underweight people often want to lose weight when they don’t need to.) If you do need to lose weight, you need to approach it right, though.
Take your pick: You’ve got exercise programs, detox programs, weight loss pills, and many other trends that purport to help you lose weight. It’s a little difficult at first to follow a diet in order to lose weight — and in fact it can be really, really easy to do things wrong. For example, maybe you think just one little bag of potato chips won’t hurt, or that you can have just one treat. Or, maybe you think that what should be a half a cup of rice is a little too small, so you increase it to a cup.
However, when you develop a healthy weight loss plan, you remain vigilant. That doesn’t mean you can never have sweets or fats. Instead, you build a healthy eating plan with healthy foods, practice modest portion control, and have an occasional treat that you PLAN for, now and then. Simply, practice common sense, be honest, and keep going. That’s harder than it sounds; if it weren’t, no one would have these problems.

Diverticulitis is a condition where pockets within the colon become trapped behind food material or stool and start an infection which can lead to bleeding or rupture of the diverticulum (pocket) and a serious disease. While there are medical ways to treat diverticulitis, natural ways to manage the disease are possible, especially when the disease is caught early and the patient hasn’t already developed severe bleeding and rupture of the diverticulum.
Conventional ways to treat diverticulitis include antispasmodic drugs to treat the abdominal cramping. These include medications such as Bentyl (dicyclomine), Librax (chlordiazepoxide), Donnatol and Levsin (hyoscyamine). These take down the spasms of the colon and control the pain of the disease.
Along with antispasmodics, doctors often use antibiotics to clear up the infection of diverticulitis. Natural antibiotics are probably not strong enough in severe cases of diverticulitis. Commonly prescribed antibiotics include Cipro (ciprofloxacin), Flagyl (metronidazole), Keflex (cephalexin) and Vibramycin (doxycycline). They kill the bacteria behind the blockage of the diverticulum and prevent the diverticulum from rupturing if caught early enough.
When it comes to diverticulitis, natural cures are often not enough. If, however, you catch the disease in the earliest stages, you can begin a diet of clear liquids such as clear sodas (7-Up and Sprite), tea without milk, coffee without milk, popsicles, juice without pulp, juice pops, water, crushed ice and clear broth (chicken, vegetable or beef).This allows the bowel to rest and can possibly reverse the condition before it becomes severe.
When the diverticulitis is partially treated you can treat the diverticulitis with natural ways involving the food you eat. You can eat low residue foods that do not stress the colon out very much. Some of these foods involve white rice, cereals like Special K, Rice Krispies, Cream of wheat or Cream of Rice, mashed potatoes, well cooked vegetables without skins, well cooked fruit without skins and well cooked meats in small quantities. Besides diverticulitis, natural cures for diverticulosis abound. You need to avoid nuts, corn and seeds as much as possible as these can block the diverticuli. High fiber foods can prevent diverticulitis by allowing the food to pass quickly through the colon. Such high fiber foods include brown rice, high fiber cereals like Grape Nuts, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, oatmeal, brown rice, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. All of these allow for regular bowel movements and less of a reason to have stool or food particles become trapped in the colon diverticuli.
While, when it comes to diverticulitis, natural cures often do not work but there can be more serious ways to manage the disease, particularly when the diverticulum has ruptured. This is a serious complication. If there is excessive bleeding, blood transfusions might become necessary. If the rupture has resulted in an abdominal abscess (collection of pus in the abdomen), surgery might be recommended to clear out the abscess and allow the antibiotics to work better. Surgery carries its own risks, especially when you are already very sick.

Visiting the Green Ambassadors new facilities in Lawndale, California I noticed right away this program is driving Environmental Charter High School to be like no other. Maybe it was the compost corner and vegetable garden, or where they convert vegetables into biodiesel. Or the First Place award-winning ‘Floatation Machine’ made out 100% recycled products. Either way, this school is unique. I am at the home of The Green Ambassadors (Green Ambassadors website), which is an educational program from the Environmental Charter High School.
Sara Laimon, the magnetic Founder of Green Ambassadors gave me a tour of their new facilities of ECHS and Green Ambassadors, while still in the remodeling and upgrading phase. As the school is moving out of boxes, and organizing their new classrooms she explained the sustainable plans in store for this unique Environmental Charter High School. There is an air of excitement. As I peaked into the classrooms, students were busy with various projects. These students know they are making a difference in our world for generations to come. The Green Ambassador Program is comprised of an elective class taught throughout schools in Los Angeles area, Youth Summits, Green Mobile Embassy, Green Adventures and supported by Green Mentors.
This groundbreaking organization is beginning to explode. The green element of the program is so strong that even during our interview she was selling organic soda to students from her office. In fact we were surrounded by green solutions, hangers made from wheat, recycled binders made from paper, Forest Certified pencils, even donated environmentally friendly, bio-degradable diapers are stacked on her desk in the office she shares with her green partners. “This program is created to breakdown our cultural social paradigms and educate all. Especially the communities that suffer the most from environmental injustices, the inner city, who normally miss the green education on how to advocate for a clean, healthy environment.” Laimon.
Green Ambassadors, a project of Environmental Charter High School, is an environmental education program that empowers youth to become agents of change in their communities and the world. The Green Ambassador elective class at Environmental Charter High School is a required course for every student to take in their 10th grade year where students receive college credit from Los Angeles Trade Technical College. The Green Ambassadors have already been accomplishing their mission through their trainings in initiatives. These initiatives are implemented by youth who are committed to fulfilling Green Ambassadors mission, vision, values, and goals. The Green Ambassador program provides a different way of learning for youth who want to contribute to this planet.
They have been trained in the One Billion Bulbs Youth empowering youth to imagine the possibilities. With a goal of mobilizing the world to replace one billion standard incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs. Plastics are Forever is another initiative where youth empowering youth to create cleaner oceans by banning plastic bags and Styrofoam (polystyrene) in Los Angeles with Algalita Marine Research Foundation, Bring Your Own, Heal the Bay and other non-profits. Green Ambassadors are trained in Biofuels, Organics, Biodiversity, Remediation of our soil, and constructing buildings and structures out of earth friendly materials.

Organic Foods are the best cure for bodily toxins because they provide you with an outlet to be able to stop the intake of conventional foods. A walking exercise program is most definitely a viable way to lose weight (assuming you are following a quality diet). However, here is a great SPIN you can place on the average walking exercise program so that you may get the most of it.
1. Interval Training
It is funny how many people get scared off by the word "training". For some reason it seems to imply strenuous work that nobody really want to put up with. Interval training is NOT the worst thing in the world!
All you do in interval training is add short bursts of hard running into your daily walks. For example, as you are walking, burst in to a run and go for about 15 seconds. Many people believe they can go much longer than 15 seconds when they first do this.
They have MUCH different views after they actually do this! The time you are running is not important, so do not try making intervals longer by easing up on the running. The idea is that after walking for a bit (and being fairly warmed up), you burst into a hard run for a short period of time. Try and go as fast as you can for this short time period.
After about 15 second, ease up and start walking again. Repeat this process a few times as you are walking. The amount of calories you burn just from 45-60 seconds in total of hard running is amazing.
2. Take a Cold Shower
Once you get home from a walk have a shower. When you are finishing up, turn the water to the coldest and rinse under it for 45 seconds. This will put your body in a state of thermogenesis. In other words, your body will begin burning fat in order to create more heat.

Often an elder law attorney will suggest that clients transfer their home to their children, retaining a “life estate.” What does that mean, and what are the consequences of such an arrangement?
When a person signs a deed to their home to their children, the children immediately own the house and the parents no longer own any interest in the house. Thus, the parents are at the mercy of the children, who could legally boot them out of the house at any time.
“My children would never do that to us!” you say. Maybe not, but one of more of your children could be sued, divorced or go bankrupt in a bad business deal. Since the children now own the house and not you, those creditors could attach “your” house and force a sale, leaving you out on the street.
Often a better solution is to deed the house to the children but retain the right to live in the house for the rest of your life, so that your children only own it upon your death (or, if you’re married, following the death of the survivor of you and your spouse). Such a deed gives your children a “remainder interest” in the house, while you have retained a “life estate” in the house.
Since your children have no rights to the house during your lifetime, a divorce or lawsuit against a child cannot have any impact on your continued right to use and possess your house.
Upon your death (or, if you’re married, upon the death of the survivor of you and your spouse), the house is immediately and automatically owned by your children. No probate is required to transfer ownership to them at that point. As a matter of fact, even if your will attempted to leave the house to someone else, the will would be ignored, since you’ve already given the house to your children by way of the deed.
For Medicaid purposes, deeding a remainder interest to one or more children may have the beneficial effect of protecting it against “estate recovery,” i.e., the state’s claim following your death for reimbursement of any Medicaid expenses it paid on your behalf during your lifetime. The rule in most states is that only assets in one’s “probate estate” can be subject to estate recovery. So if the house passes automatically to the children outside of your probate estate at your death, then the state is out of luck.
If you deed your house to your children, and the house is worth $250,000, you just made a gift of $250,000 to the children when you signed the deed. However, if you deed only a remainder interest to your children, then you have made a smaller gift. After all, you have retained the right to use and possess the house for the rest of your life; that has a value. The federal government publishes a table that shows the value of a life estate at ages from 0 to 109; the Medicaid folks rely on this when valuing your life estate.
For example, if you are age 70 and sign a life estate deed, your retained interest in your house is valued at 61% and the gift of the remainder interest is valued at 39%. If you are age 80, you are not expected to live as long as a 70-year-old, so your retained interest is worth less (44%) which increases the gift value (56%).
So if your house is worth $250,000, and you are age 80 when you sign the life estate deed, you just made a gift of $140,000 ($250,000 x 56%). Such a gift will be counted against you if you apply for Medicaid within five years, so do your planning well in advance!…
